Luther and Katharina by Jody Hedlund

SHE WAS A NUN OF NOBLE BIRTH. HE, A HERETIC, A REFORMER...AN OUTLAW OF THE HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE.

In the sixteenth century, nun Katharina von Bora's fate fall no further than the Abbey. Until she read the writings of Marin Luther.

His sweeping Catholic church reformation--condemning a cloistered life and promoting the goodness of marriage--awakened her desire for everything she'd been forbidden.

Including Martin Luther himself.

Despite the fact that the attraction and tension between them is undeniable, Luther holds fast to his convictions and remains isolated, refusing to risk anyone's life but his own. Katharina longs for love, but is strong-willed. She clings proudly to her class distinction, pining for nobility over the heart of a reformer.

They couldn't be more different.

But as the world comes tumbling down around them, and with the threat on Luther's life a constant strain, these unlikely allies forge an unexpected bond of understanding, support, and love.

Together they will alter the religious landscape forever.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I so enjoyed this book about real people that I didn't really know anything about. I only knew that Luther had a big part in bringing Christianity to others in a new way. You can tell that Jody has done her research and also done a great job of adding some fictional elements that could very well have happened. I learned a lot about the way the church worked back then that I also knew nothing about. Luther's passion for the Word and for people to live FOR Christ instead of hiding away from the world changed everything.
The characters were rich and vibrant in the text. I found it quite interesting how Luther loved her so much but tried to refuse that love and it made him react to her in a negative way. When he finally admits to that love it is such a relief TO him. Of course, everyone else had already seen how much he loved her though he denied it if they tried to tell him so. Despite that, Kate was true to her character and kept trying to do things the way the Lord would want. I loved the moment when she realized that praying to Mary wasn't going to get her anywhere and she called out to GOD Himself instead.
If you love history, adventure, danger and a great love story...this book is for you! I recommend it highly and give it 5 stars!!!
Chivalrous: Valiant Hearts Book 2 by Dina L. Sleiman
With her future in jeopardy, this unforgettable heroine won't go down without a fight!
Strong and adventurous Gwendolyn Barnes longs to be a knight like her chivalrous brothers, but her parents view her only as a marriage pawn. When her domineering father makes plans to see her wed to a brutish man, Gwendolyn must fight for her future.
She's surprised, however, for that clash to include a handsome, good-hearted newcomer. Allen of Ellsworth arrives in Edendale searching for his place in the world, but he finds in Gwendolyn the most unexpected of women.
Tournaments, intrigue, and battles-along with twists and turns aplenty-await these two as they struggle to find love, identity, and their true destinies.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I loved book two even more than book one. In book one you meet Allen but you don't really get to KNOW him the same way as you do in this one. I love how you see the struggle within him to be something special to others and at the same time knowing the only One he is to please and follow is the Lord. Gwen is wonderful. While growing up under a very mean father, she was fortunate to have him away for a lot of the time. I believe that gave her the ability to have a kind heart and daring spirit. Having big brothers to allow her to learn things that only men could do back then kept her vibrant and later it kept her alive.

This book has all the adventure and intrigue you would expect with a title and cover like it has. I enjoyed the tournaments. It felt just like I was watching one of the movies from that time period. The relationship between Gwen and Rosalind is one of my favorites. She is willing to follow her into whatever adventure she chooses but at the same time she tries to guide her the direction a lady of her status requires. I'm looking forward to reading her story in book three.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to read of adventure with romance. I rate this book a 5 star. I found nothing offensive or out of line. It was the perfect mix of adventure, romance and spirituality. I found the characters faith to be balanced. Their struggles were real to life. Well done, once again! Can't wait for more.

The Lost Heiress by Roseanna M. White

Sweeping Romance And Mystery In The Edwardian Era

Brook Eden has never known where she truly belongs. Though raised in the palace of Monaco, she’s British by birth and was brought to the Grimaldis under suspicious circumstances as a babe. When Brook’s friend Justin uncovers the fact that Brook is likely a missing heiress from Yorkshire, Brook leaves the sun of the Mediterranean to travel to the moors of the North Sea to the estate of her supposed family.

The mystery of her mother’s death haunts her, and though her father is quick to accept her, the rest of the family and the servants of Whitby Park are not. Only when Brook’s life is threatened do they draw close—but their loyalty may come too late to save Brook from the same threat that led to tragedy for her mother.

As heir to a dukedom, Justin is no stranger to balancing responsibilities. When the matters of his estate force him far from Brook, the distance between them reveals that what began as friendship has grown into something much more. But how can their very different loyalties and responsibilities ever come together?

And then, for a second time, the heiress of Whitby Park is stolen away because of the very rare treasure in her possession—and those who can save her still aren't sure whom to trust.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have found a new favorite from Roseanna! This books has it all. Mystery, romance, intrigue, friendship, humor, danger...The Lost Heiress is a thick book but contains zero fluff. There was never a time where I wanted to skip over words to get to something more exciting. I enjoyed ever sentence. The story kept my attention from page one and I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened next.
I loved the relationship between Brook and Justin from the beginning. To watch it change wasn't always fun but at the same time, it was more real than some books. I don't like when the characters are unrealistic in how they react to things and just stop talking to each other after years of friendship. Even though things got crazy from time to time, they still cared about each other. They went the extra mile to tell the other person where they were wrong for their actions or behavior. There are people who say Christian fiction is full of the same story and it just seems unrealistic. I beg to differ with that opinion, especially with this author's books. It was interwoven with the character's faith. That didn't mean nothing bad ever happened because of their faith. That isn't real life. This story showed how despite hardships and everything not being sunshine and roses, you can still do the right thing and treat people the right way.
Brook's strong character was a pleasure to watch as she dealt with so many different personality types. She understood that not everyone likes you but you don't have to be unkind to them for it. I felt so badly for Justin as he struggled with the responsibilities he had to deal with and the losses while trying to be there for her at the same time. The secondary characters were just as powerful. I loved her father and her friend Brice. I can't wait for his story in book two.
There are some shockers in the story, too. I won't give them away, but just know they might surprise you just a bit. There are the "bad guys" and you can tell one of the biggest ones pretty early on. You just don't realize how bad one of them gets until later in the story.
I really loved this book. I hated for it to end. I can't wait for books two and three in the series. I know they will be just as wonderful. I would give them 10 stars, but since the top is 5, it is for sure that. It is a great story for teens and up. It has some great topics of discussion that you could talk with your teen about, or any book club. Grab your copy today!!!
A Worthy Pursuit by Karen Witemeyer
A TEACHER ON THE RUN. A BOUNTY HUNTER IN PURSUIT. CAN TWO ENEMIES LEARN TO TRUST EACH OTHER BEFORE THEY BOTH LOSE WHAT THEY HOLD MOST DEAR?
Stone Hammon is the best tracker in Texas. He never comes home empty-handed. So when a wealthy railroad investor hires him to find his abducted granddaughter, Stone eagerly accepts.
Charlotte Atherton, former headmistress of Sullivan's Academy for Exceptional youths, will do anything to keep her charges safe, especially the orphaned girl entrusted to her care. Charlotte promised Lily's mother she'd keep the girl away from her unscrupulous grandfather, and nothing will stop Charlotte from fulfilling that pledge. Not even the handsome bounty hunter with surprisingly honest eyes who comes looking for them.
When Miss Atherton produces documentation that shows her to be Lily's legal guardian, Stone must reevaluate everything he's been led to believe. Is she villain or victim?
Then a new danger forces Charlotte to trust the man sent to destroy her. Stone vows to protect what he once sought to tear apart. Besides, he's ready to start a new pursuit: winning Charlotte's heart.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What a fun book. It had adventure, romance and even a bit of mystery. The book was full of surprises. I loved how Stone didn't jump to conclusions but watched and made his decisions based on facts. Charlotte was much the same. She acted properly while being careful and still putting the protection of her child above all else. The children were a great addition to the book. I loved what made each one special. The characters were very well developed. I had a hard time putting the book down. I was adopted so these kinds of stories grab me. I wanted to find out what happened next and how things were going to go when the real "bad guy" showed up, because there always has to be one, right? Actually, there are a few of them, but two main ones. I recommend this to anyone who loves an adventure and sweet romance.

Hearts Made Whole by Jody Hedlund

1865 Windmill Point, Michigan
Can She Forgive the Hurting Man Who Costs Her the Role She Loves?

After her father's death, Caroline Taylor has grown confident running the Windmill Point Lighthouse. But in 1865 Michigan, women aren't supposed to have such roles, so it's only a matter of time before the lighthouse inspector appoints a new keeper--even though Caroline has nowhere else to go and no other job available to her.

Ryan Chambers is a Civil War veteran still haunted by the horrors of battle. He's secured the position of lighthouse keeper mostly for the isolation--the chance to hide from his past is appealing. He's not expecting the current keeper to be a feisty and beautiful woman who's angry with him for taking her job and for his inability to properly run the light. When his failings endanger others, he and Caroline realize he's in no shape to run the lighthouse, but he's unwilling to let anyone close enough to help. Caroline feels drawn to this wounded soul, but with both of them relying on that single position, can they look past their loss to a future filled with hope...and possibly love?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I enjoy reading anything Jody Hedlund writes. Hearts Made Whole was no exception. I was quickly drawn into the character's lives from the very first pages. What I love about Caroline is her strong, mothering nature for her siblings. Family means doing what she has to do for them. She loves taking care of the lighthouse. It isn't a burden to her. After her mother died and her father got older she began to do more and more of both their jobs. She doesn't feel angry because of it. She does her daily routine with joy.
Ryan is a broken, shell of the man he used to be but when he came to the lighthouse we begin to see glimpses of that man. The war has scared him in many ways. I never thought about how the older wars effected those who fought in them. They must have had the same types of nightmares as our men and women do now. Caroline learns to respect him quite early on and doesn't judge him for his shortcomings but believes he will be able to over come them and become whole again.
We get to learn so much about the workings of the lighthouse and how important it was back then. Lives depended on the light keepers but there was still much danger and at times, death. I have always thought lighthouses were interesting and even beautiful, but I never thought about how much work went into running them. We also get a look at how challenging it was right after the war for those coming home to find jobs and how scarce medication and doctors were. I think reading is a great way to learn about history when you have an author who cares about writing things the way they happened in a certain time period. It has made me love history in a way I never did before.
I highly recommend this book and the others in the series.
The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest by Melanie Dickerson
A BEAUTIFUL MAIDEN who POACHES to FEED the POOR. A HANDSOME FORESTER on a MISSION to CATCH HER. DANGER and LOVE ARE ABOUT TO UNTIE in THORNBECK FOREST.
The margrave owns the finest hunting grounds for miles around--and Odette Menkels spends her nights poaching his deer to feed the hungry orphans of Thornbeck. By day, Odette is a simple maiden who teaches children to read, but by night this young beauty has become the secret lifeline to the poorest of the poor.
For Jorgen Hartman, the margrave's forester, tracking down a poacher is a duty he is all too willing to perform. Jorgen inherited his post from the man who raised him...a man who was murdered at the hands of a poacher.
When Jorgen and Odette meet at the Midsummer festival and share a connection during a dance, neither has any idea that they are already adversaries.
The one man she wants is bound by duty to capture her, the one woman he loves is his cunning target...What becomes of a forester who protects a notorious poacher? What becomes of a poacher when she is finally discovered?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have loved every one of Melanie's books. There isn't one that I could say wasn't on my favorites list. This one is no exception. In fact, she gets better with each book. There was an air of mystery about it that kept me wondering. The characters were very real and I enjoyed getting to know them.

Odette is a sweet but adventurous young lady who wants to do what is right and at the same time can't let the children starve. Her life is centered around others instead of herself. Jorgen is a man of honor and is determined to do his job the correct way. He doesn't believe in lying to protect others but believes honesty is the right way to deal with things. There are many devious characters in the story. Some you don't realize how devious and a couple surprise you in the end.

This is a great book for any age. I encourage those with teen girls to buy these books because they are sweet but have adventure. They teach girls they CAN make good choices.

A Stranger's Secret by Laurie Alice Eakes

As a grieving young widow, Morwenna only wants a quiet life for herself and her new son. Until a man washes ashore, entangling her in a web of mystery that could threaten all she holds dear.

Lady Morwenna Trelanwny Penvenan indulged in her fair share of dalliances in her youth, but now that she's the widowed mother to the heir of the Penvenan title, she's desperate to polish her reputation. When she's accused of deliberately luring ships to crash on the rocks to steal the cargo, Morwenna begins an investigation to uncover the real culprits and stumbles across an unconscious man lying in the sea's foam--a man wearing a medallion with the Trelawny crest around his neck.

The medallion is a mystery to David Chastain, a boat builder from Somerset. All David knows is that his father was found dead in Cornwall with the medallion in his possession after lying and stealing his family's money. And he knows the widow who rescued him is impossibly beautiful--and likely the siren who caused the shipwreck in the first place--as well as the hand behind whoever is trying to murder David.

As Morweena nurses David back to healthy and tries to learn how he landed on her beach, suspicion and pride keep their growing attraction at bay. But can they join together to save Morwenna's name and estate and David's live? Can they acknowledge the love they are both trying to deny?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As always, Laurie Alice Eakes has written a winner. Her books are so rich in detail that you can't read them super fast for fear of missing some important details. You have to be intentional and capture every word. She has filled this book with some mysterious characters. I love finding out what makes them tick. Morwenna is a strong but widowed young lady who is doing everything she can to make a life for her and her son despite her grandparents trying to force her to live her life their way.
David seems drawn to her even from the beginning, thinking her an angel when he was in his sick bed those first days. He listens and gathers information to try to piece together what happened and how it all ties into the mystery he is trying to solve about his father's death. This is a great book. Make sure you check out book one in this series, A Lady's Honor
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Eakes has a charming way of making her novels come to life without being over the top," writes Romantic Times of the bestselling, award-winning author Laurie Alice Eakes. Since she lay in bed as a child telling herself stories, she has fulfilled her dream of becoming a published author, with a degree in English and French from Asbury University and a master's degree in writing fiction from Seton Hill University contributing to her career path. Now she has nearly two dozen books in print.

After enough moves in the past five years to make U-Haul's stock rise, she now lives in Houston, Texas, where she and her husband are newly minted church leaders. Although they haven't been blessed with children--yet--they have a sundry lovable dogs and cats. If the carpet is relatively free of animal fur, then she is either frustrated with the current manuscript, or brainstorming another--the only two times she genuinely enjoys housekeeping.

Samantha Sanderson At The Movies by Robin Caroll

SAMANTHA SANDERSON is an independent, resourceful, high-tech cheerleader. She dreams of becoming an award-winning journalist like her mother, so she's always looking for articles she can publish in her middle-school paper (where she secretly hopes to become chief editor). And with a police officer for a father, Sam is in no short supply for writing material.

IT SEEMED LIKE THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY
When an explosive device is found in the local theater, Sam gets the lead on this developing and controversial story-controversial because the movie theater has recently come under attack by a renowned, outspoken atheist for allowing a local church to show Christian movies. Sam's father happens to be heading the investigation, and Sam can't resist doing some sleuthing of her own with the help of her best friend Makayla's techno-genius. But when Sam's theories are printed in the school paper, she lands in big trouble-and danger!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a great book for young people. I have a home preschool and at nap time I read a chapter from a chapter book each day. We read through At The Movies at the end of the school year. I had several children graduating, five going to kindergarten and one going to first grade. They enjoyed me reading it, but part of it were a bit over their heads. I recommend a little older. My 13 year old was also in the room while we read and she enjoyed the story.
It was very well done. It kept you thinking about different possibilities for who did it. It also went into some basic faith questions that children and preteens might ask themselves and their friends. This book had great answers. I believe it guided the reader to think deeper into what they believe and why.
I loved the relationship between her and her parents. It was one of honestly and respect. They had arguments and didn't agree on everything but they listened to each other and worked it out. I recommend this series to preteen and young teens. Great reading.
Love's Unfading Light by Naomi Rawlings
Tressa Danell is finished with men--from the wastrel who left her a widow, to the smelly trapper who keeps proposing, to the banker who wants to repossess her bakery. Every hour is spent working to pay off her late husband's debt and keep a roof over her son's head, though it's doubtful she can do both for very long. But one thing's certain--she'll never be beholden to a man again.
Tired of living in a small town that blames him for actions his father committed ten years ago, Mac Oakton is scheduled to leave Eagle Harbor. So why does the pretty widow at the bakery keep tugging at his heart? He can't get involved in her predicament when he'll only be around for two more weeks.
But when Tressa's burdens overwhelm her, they both face a decision. Can Mac set his own plans aside to help? And can Tressa accept his support if that means giving up her independence...and being obligated to a man again?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What a great book! The characters were so real and kept my attention from the beginning. I read the book in two evenings. The things I loved about Tressa was her determination to keep trying no matter what and the fact that she had honest reactions to things. I felt sorry for her because she felt, like a lot of people do, that she isn't worth loving because of her past. Mac was so fortunate to have been taken in by a wonderful family that made him a part of it 100% after his father cheated the town and left without a word to anyone. He did things out of kindness and love for others. He didn't just barrel into situations, but sought God's direction. Even when things didn't go the way he wanted them to, he didn't stray from the course he was lead to be on.

Love's Unfading Light deals with a father's and a husband's misdeeds falling onto their child and wife, who actually had nothing to do with their actions at all. Naomi handled it wonderfully. Each person had those who knew the real person so they didn't feel the way some others might, angry and resentful. Each one of them struggled to stay in a town that had people who disliked them so strongly. But each one had a purpose and people they cared about in Eagle Harbor. Read the book to find out how these situations got resolved. You won't be disappointed.

I highly recommend this story to anyone. I give it a 5 out of 5. Very well written and great plot and resolution, while also setting up the plot for book two. I can't wait to read it!

A mother of two young boys and a newborn baby girl, Naomi Rawlings spends her days picking up, cleaning, playing and, of course, writing. Her husband pastors a small church in Michigan's rugged Upper Peninsula, where her family shares its ten wooded acres with black bears, wolves, coyotes, deer and bald eagles. Naomi and her family live only three miles from Lake Superior, where the scenery is beautiful and they average 200 inches of snow per winter. She's currently enjoying writing the Eagle Harbor Series, which is set in this unique area of the United States.

Falcon: The Quiet Professionals Book 3 by Ronie Kendig

THE DAY OF DEADLY RECKONING HAS ARRIVED FOR RAPTOR TEAM...

...and Warrant Officer Salvatore "Falcon" Russo is just the right mix of guts and grit to lead his brothers-in-arms against the Osiris hacker, Meng-Li Jin. Sal must cut through thick roots of bitterness and betrayal to take down the terrorist--but that means putting the team in the hands of Cassandra Walker. The last time he did that, two of the most important people in his life died. He will not make that mistake again.

Cassandra Walker knows three things: she has never loved any man besides Salvatore Russo, he hates her more than life itself, and her mission may destroy any chance of reconciliation.

The deeper Raptor digs for truth, the more betrayal seeps from the very fabric of their mission. Friends becomes spies and turncoats. Enemies morph into strange allies. As the tides turn and Sal rethinks his game plan, he is forced to trust Cassie again. And it might be the last time.

I don't normally pick military fiction for my reading pleasure but when Ronie is the author, that changes everything. I LOVE her books. The characters grab me right away. They become "real" to me and I have to find out where their adventures take them and what kind of danger they will face next. I consider Ronie one of my favorite authors and love ALL of her books.

Falcon had many surprises for me. Some things I figured out ahead of time and others caught me off guard. These characters are complex and exciting. In her books she has strong characters and especially the women. This book series takes you into a time that could very well be now. The danger and action keep you reading (even way past your bedtime). It was fast-paced and non stop. I would recommend reading the first two books in the series, Raptor 6 and Hawk, before reading this one, although it can be read alone. I haven't read the first two and now I am dying to go and read them and re-read Falcon. You won't be disappointed in this book or any other by Ronie Kendig. She does not disappoint in her story telling skills. Please check out her other two series, too. I have all of her books either on my shelf or Kindle or both. They are so good I want to make sure I can read them anytime. Five stars for this book!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An Army brat, Ronie Kendig grew up in the classic military family, with her father often TDY and her mother holding down the proverbial fort. Their family moved often, which left Ronie attending six schools by the time she'd entered fourth grade. her only respite and "friends" druing this time were the characters she created.
It was no surprise when she married a military veteran--her real-life hero--in June 1990. Married more than twenty years, Ronie and her husband, Brian, homeschool their children, the first of whom graduated in 2011. Despite the craziness of life, Ronie finds balance and peace with her faith, family and their Maltese Menace in Northern Virginia.
Ronie has a deep love and passion for people, especially hurting people, which is why she pursued and obtained a B.S. in Psychology from Liberty University. Ronie speaks nationally, volunteers with writer's organizations, including American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) and My Book Therapy, and mentors other writers.
Since launching onto the publishing scene in 2010, Ronie and her books have hit bestseller lists and garnered awards and critical acclaim. You can check out that list on her website:
Double Cross (FBI: Houston Book 2) by DiAnn Mills
She put him in prison. Now he's their only lead in a deadly new case.
FBI Agent Laurel Evertson's investigation into a scam targeting the elderly takes an unexpected twist when key evidence leads her to a felon she arrested on her last undercover assignment. That case has haunted her since, and though she's vowed to forget Morton Wilmington--and what she sacrificed to put him away--he is now her best lead.
Houston Police Officer Daniel Hilton fears his grandparents may be the scammers' next targets, and he'll do anything to protect his family, including force interagency cooperation. But he's quickly drawn to Laurel's zeal and agrees to follow her lead...even if it means teaming up with a felon.
As the unlikely trio uncovers disturbing evidence suggesting the scam is more deadly than they imagined, Laurel and Daniel find themselves in the crosshairs of a killer. Together they must decide if they can trust Wilmington's claims of redemption, or if he's leading them straight into a double cross.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have read many of DiAnn's western romance books but this is the first time I've been able to read her newer crime adventure books. I enjoy her writing style for both genres. This book was filled with action and mystery. I used to watch a few of the crime TV shows and enjoyed trying to solve the crime. This one made me wonder WHO was the double crosser and who was on the up and up through out the entire book. The ending surprised me.

This book deals with how people's past shapes them and how they make choices in their lives. There are trust issues because of the past and it makes us question trusting others and knowing what is real or a lie. This book shows how God loves us through the bad things that can happen to us as we are growing up, either from our choices or just something that happens to us because of someone else's choices. There is nothing so bad that God won't love us. And that people heal in their own way, it's not one size fits all.

This book was very well done. If you like crime adventure books, this one is on target. She does her research and makes it believable. This is number two in the series. The first book came out last year and the third next year around this time. I look forward to reading more of her books.

This book takes you back to a horrible time in our history and gives you a different view of it. At least it did for me. If you didn't grow up in that time or grow up over there, you may not fully understand just how things were. The main characters are passionate about doing their part to help those of are the victims of these horrible crimes against humanity.

It was interesting to see how they made life choices based on the things going on around them instead of just for selfish reasons. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and follow their story. If you like adventure and danger you will enjoy this book.

An Uncertain Choice by Jody Hedlund

ONE MONTH...ONE DECISION

Due to her parents' promise at her birth, Lady Rosemarie prepared herself to become a nun the day she turns eighteen. But a month before her birthday, everything changes when a friend of her father's enters the kingdom and proclaims her parents' will left a second choice--if Rosemarie can marry before the eve of her eighteenth year, she will be exempt from the ancient vow.

Soon, Rosemarie is presented with the three most handsome and brave knights in the land. But when the competition for her heart seemingly results in a knight playing foul, she begins to wonder if the cloister is the best place after all. If only one of the knights--the one who appears the most guilty--had not already captured her heart.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This book is full of adventure, danger, romance and courage. Lady Rosemarie is now an adult and is suddenly faced with a choice she didn't know she had. This is a great book for young ladies because it shows how you can come into adulthood with grace and wisdom. She was totally new to courting but handled herself well. Although young, she is not weak. She has compassion for the people that she rules and will not tolerate the cruel tortures of the times. The three knights are great, each in their own unique way. They are the best of friends that even courting the same girl did not destroy. Two are fun loving and one is more standoffish, but not because he doesn't feel drawn to her. I don't want to give away any spoilers but I can say that I love the one she chooses the most. I am looking forward to reading the other two knight's stories in the second and third books. I recommend this book to preteen and teen as well as any age above that.  GREAT book!
The Vow: A Novella by Jody Hedlund
Young Rosemarie finds herself drawn to Thomas, the son of the nearby baron. But just as her feelings begin to grow, a man carrying the Plague interrupts their hunting party. While in forced isolation, Rosemarie begins to contemplate her future—could it include Thomas? Could he be the perfect man to one day rule beside her and oversee her parents’ lands?
Then Rosemarie is summoned back to her castle in haste. The disease has spread, and her family is threatened. And the secret she discovers when she returns could change her future forever.
This novella is a prequel to Jody Hedlund’s An Uncertain Choice
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What a great prequel. I love getting the back story to the main character in a book. This one takes place several years before An Uncertain Choice. It shows the type of person Rosemarie is and her relationship with her parents. It gives you a look at the time period the book is set in. You easily learn to love Rosemarie and want to know the rest of her story. I recommend reading this before you start An Uncertain Choice just to give yourself a bit more background information as you begin the book. Great for preteens and teens, plus anyone older than that.
