Ladies of Caldwell County Series by Regina Jennings

Sixty-Acres-and-Bride1-193x300Sixty Acres and a Bride (Book 1)

She's Finally Found a Place to Call Home....
How Far Will She Go to Save It?

With nothing to their names, young widow Rosa Garner and her mother-in-law return to their Texas family ranch. Only now the county is demanding back taxes and the women have just three months to pay.

Though facing eviction, Rosa falls in love with the countryside and the wonderful extended family who want only her best. They welcome her vivacious spirit and try to help her navigate puzzling American customs. She can't help but stand out, though, and her beauty captures attention. When some offer help with dangerous strings attached, only one man seems honorable. But when Weston Garner, still grieving his own lost love, is unprepared to give his heart, Rosa must decide to what lengths she will go to save her future.

This story reminds me of Naomi and Ruth in the Bible. Rosa follows her beloved mother-in-law back to her family after both their husbands die. She is from a different culture so she is trying to learn what is proper and what is not. She is doing everything she can to help save her mother-in-laws land from being taken by the bank. She meets Weston and things become interesting. They both have to learn to move forward from the loses they have experienced. He is a strong and honorable man. He takes his business seriously and is ready to do the right thing. This is a great story and has some interesting twists.

LoveInTheBalance-TP_200rgbMock (1)Love in the Balance (Book 2)

Handsome Cowboy or Debonair Tycoon
How's a Girl to Choose?

Molly Lovelace dreams of a life without cares in Lockhart, Texas. She also dreams of handsome wrangler Bailey Garner, her ardent but inconsistent beau. The problem is, with Bailey's poor prospects, she just can't fit the two dreams together.

Then mysterious stranger Edward Pierrepont sweeps into town-and her life-and for the first time Molly wonders if she's met the man who can give her everything. But he won't be in Lockhart long, and while it certainly seems like he talks about their glorious future together, she can't quite get Bailey out of her mind.

What's a girl to do with all these decisions when love is in the balance?

We meet Molly in book one and she isn't exactly one of your favorite characters. She has been raised to be snobby and spoiled. But in book two she learns what it means to care about someone else besides herself. Bailey is trying so hard to do the right thing. This story shows how we all stumble and how society can judge wrongly, see someone who is stumbling as a perfect person because they don't know the full details, and see someone who is striving only to do the right thing but circumstances have dragged her name through the mud as someone to look down upon. I loved how these characters matured and grew into someone I was cheering for to succeed. This is a great story of how despite wrong choices we make, God can open new doors to put us back on the path we were supposed to be on. He also uses them to shape us into who He wants us to become.

Caught in the Middle (Book 3)

She Wants the Freedom of the Open Plains.
He Wants the Prestige of a Successful Career.
Neither is Ready for What Comes Instead.

The train to Garber, Texas is supposed to bring life's next victory to Nicholas Lovelace, instead, it gets held up by robbers who are thwarted by the last person Nick ever expected--Anne Tillerton from back home in Prairie Lea.

Anne's been hiding away as a buffalo hunter. She's only in town to find their runaway cook, but the woman flees--leaving Anne with her infant son. With Nick the only person Anne knows in town, the two form an unlikely team as they try to figure out what to do with the child.

But being in town means acting and dressing for polite society--and it's not going well for Anne. Meanwhile, Nick's work is bringing new pressures, and being seen with a rough-around-the-edges woman isn't helping his reputation. Caught between their own dreams, a deepening relationship, and others' expectations, can the pair find their way to love?

We meet both Anne and Nicholas in book one and two. Nicholas is Molly's brother. He has grown up quite a bit since moving out on his own and becoming a business man. But he has a bit more growing spiritually to do in this book. Anne has gone through some hard times, she was an abused wife in the first book. She is a suspect in a murder in the second book. She doesn't trust people and when something looks too good to be true, she thinks it can't be. I love how this book shows how God refines us in the fire. How even when something is difficult, with Him we can come through it even stronger than we thought we were when we started out. It had some things in it I expected but it always had some twists that took me by surprise. This was my favorite out of the three books. Great series.

I have it from the source that you will meet some of these same characters in her new series the Ozark Mountain Romance Series, but not until the third book. That makes me so excited because I never want to say goodbye to great characters.
