Kylie's Kiss by Delia Latham

On a dare, Kylie Matthews lands smack in the middle of Solomon’s Gate—Castle Creek’s new Christian dating agency—and she finds herself revealing exactly what she’s waiting for in a relationship: “The kiss that steals my breath away.”

What she doesn’t reveal is her lack of self-esteem or her irrational reaction to facial disfigurement. Neither is applicable to her quest to find the perfect match. But that seemingly superficial malady becomes all-important when her first agency-arranged date is Rick Dale—a man who is everything Kylie is searching for. He’s handsome, smart, fun. Rick has it all…including an angelic six-year-old daughter with severe scarring on one side of her face.

Hard at work founding a therapy camp for young female victims of deformity or disfigurement, Rick wants Kylie to be a part of those plans. She’d love to say yes…but how can she, when every contact with the facility’s guests—and Rick’s own daughter—will make her violently ill?

Kylie is ready to admit their relationship doesn’t stand a chance, but she’s forgotten that God makes a way where there seems no way.

Solomon's Gate Series: Book Two

Kylie's Kiss is a book that will touch your heart. In today's world vanity is becoming more and more an issue for our young daughters. So many things point to outward beauty and perfection as being the most important thing regardless of what is on the inside. We are sending these young girls the wrong message. Beauty is more than skin deep. It goes all the way to our core. If a person is ugly on the inside it doesn't matter what is on the outside. The same is true with inner beauty. It radiates to the surface and over shadows whats on the outside. We need to understand that God made us the way we are. And in His eyes we are beautiful and He wants us to be beautiful on the inside.

This book didn't just focus on beauty. It was an example of how one person caring and doing their part could make a huge difference in someones life. Or even a great number of people. One person taking the time to care for another can have a huge impact. We also need to realize that the world's standards of a "good life" aren't always God's standards. If you are going through life and it feels like it has no meaning then you need to examine it according to God's ruler. How can you make God number one in your life instead of you?

This is such a sweet book that touches some deep hurts. I think this is a great book to give young preteens to young adult women. I am much older than that and loved it but I do feel it would be a great book for girls that age to read. It could dispel some untruths that they have already started believing about themselves. It is a book with humor and joy. A book of redemption and mended relationships. A book of healing. A must read.

  1. Thank you, Terri - I sincerely appreciate you taking time to read and review Kylie's Kiss. I'm delighted that you enjoyed Kylie's story, and honored that you would recommend it for young women. It's so important for them to know how beautiful they are to God, and that He's not looking at their porcelain skin, silky hair, and beautiful features...or their lack of those things. He sees their hearts, and that's where real beauty has its roots.
